Disc Golf is a sport that is taking its first steps in Spain and Portugal but that is already fully rooted in countries like the USA, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Germany, Czech Republic, Norway, Sweden, Denmark, and Finland. It is precisely in the countries of Northern Europe, mainly Finland, where Disc Golf has been a real revolution and its growth has been exponential during the last 15 years.

Disc Golf is played outdoors, promotes respect for nature and is deeply social. It is not only an extremely budget-friendly sport (most of the courses are free to play in and a disc costs between 10€ and 20€), but it is also easy to learn and practice. This makes it a very popular family-oriented sport, suitable for players of all ages.

Disc Golf was born in California in the late 60s and early 70s.

The sport is very similar to traditional golf, but sticks and balls are replaced by a disc. The holes, instead of holes on the ground, are baskets.

It is deeply social experience. A Disc Golf match can be played with friends, with family members, or with players you just met. There are also Disc Golf clubs, which organize tournaments, clinics, and other ideal activities for meeting people and increasing the knowledge of the sport.

The Disc Golf course is sustainable with the environment and promotes respect for nature. Its installation and use have a minimum environmental impact. It is integrated into the sourroundings and takes advantage of its characteristics to create a unique course.

It is a very affordable facility to install and maintain, especially when compared to traditional Golf. It is fairly low cost for the player and in addition an 18-hole Disc Golf game is played in half the time as a traditional game of Golf.

Disc Golf is an added value for the city and a new form of tourism. A well-designed Disc Golf course attracts players of all ages and all levels. In addition, a superior designed course is an opportunity to organize excellent events that attract players and enthusiasts from all over the world.

As previously stated, DiscGolf is a widely popular sport in Northern European countries. For this reason, many of its players are on a constant search for a warmer climate where they could train or enjoy their favorite sport while on holiday. This, of course, creates a perfect opportunity to increase tourism in areas that are equipped with year-long readily available DiscGolf facilities.
